Equal parts performance poets and adventurers, April Ranger and Carrie Rudzinski are two of the strongest voices hailing from the Northeastern spoken word scene. Captivating audiences from Boston to Seattle to Long Beach with their powerful, raw performances, both bring unmatched honesty and vulnerability to the stage. Blending Carrie’s biting surrealism with April’s narrative storytelling, these two women are embarking on their second tour to explore their own histories of silence and empower the voices they encounter to speak up.

April Ranger most recently performed at the 2010 National Poetry Slam in St. Paul, Minnesota, as a member of Boston Cantab’s semifinalist slam team. She represented Boston Cantab at the Individual World Poetry Slam in Berkeley in 2009, and performed on the 2008 NPS Final Stage as a Cantab Team member in Madison, Wisconsin. April earned the title of NorthBeast Poetry Champion in 2008. Her poetry has been published in the literary journal Sea Coast, and she is the author of two books of poems: We Are Not As Strong, and The Sacred Heartbeat of Consent.

Carrie Rudzinski is a co-founder of the Emerson Poetry Project and a member of the 2008 Semi Finalist and 2009 Finalist Emerson College Slam Teams. She was named “Best Female Poet” and “Best Of The Rest” at the 2008 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. In 2010, she represented the Boston Cantab National Slam Team who finished in Semi-Finals at the National Poetry Slam, and will represent the Boston Cantab at the Individual World Poetry Slam in Charlotte, NC. She has been published in the online magazine Muzzle and is the author of A History Of Silence, a poetry collection.
