Before Red Turns to Rust
I am committed, I fear,
to the blazing autumn
To the shocks of scarlet, the walls of blooming carmine
Though hibernal kisses shock and shiver,
Though youthful fancies bloom in springtime,
Though midsummer heat is all-consuming
Sit by the oaks, by the water
Let them fall, let them rise
And scratch their ears
Rub their paws
Sit there until our vermilion fades into frost
