The heresy of an unbeliever

I confess,

I didn't know hell before you.

I knew life and death,

And thought soft gray silence otherwise.

Then you told me of a fire that never went out.

But the cold of winter deep in your bones,

The ivory of your fleeting smile,

The sting of an orange peel under your nail.

What fear should I have of forever?
