Five Lines from August
August 5
I test my grip on misplaced hand holds
To test the skill of a storybook illustrator,
Whose alley cats and shrink wrap mattress
Have no idea what kind of warm, quiet
Power I'm really feeling.
August 6
I only embrace evenings to see you
Hide behind a sigh like the sound
Of a car from inside it. All inertia and
Good intentions, the ones you never hear,
Disbelieving that the timeline is optional.
August 14
My levity is best read naked,
Not for snark or instability.
It skids across lanes and between meters,
It hovers in the shade of your focal point
And it weighs no more than its medium.
